Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center:  Both Ends of the Rainbow Exhibition - On view 1/29-3/18.  This annual exhibition will feature over 1,000 works of art by local students and senior citizens from Cayuga County.  On view in Gallery Julius with be the Three Lakes Sampler, a collaborative project organized by Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES that includes artwork and poetry by local students.

Auburn Public Theater:  Aztec Two-Step - Jan. 27, 8pm.  After more than 40 years together, Aztec Two-Step continues to impress audiences with intelligent songwriting, dazzling acoustic lead guitar and inspiring harmonies. They are one of acoustic music’s most popular and enduring acts.  Tickets $23.

Auburn Public Theater:  "Circumstance" - Jan. 27, 1 & 8pm, Jan. 28, 8pm.  Maryam Keshavarz’s swirling and sensuous melodrama of forbidden love in modern Tehran.  “Circumstance” tries to capture aspects of life in Iran that lie beyond the reach of that country’s filmmakers, who must work within censorship codes or in secret.   ALL CINEMA TICKETS $5 Online ($6 at door).

Willard Memorial Chapel:  Willard Chapel Concert - Jan. 29, 2pm.  Concert featuring Lou Nocilly and the musical group Jazzitude.  The jazz band members, Lou Nocilly (sax), Mike Burns (electric bass), Dave Chitambar (drums), Mark Chitambar (guitar) and Warren Robinson (vocals and trumpet) have been involved in the music scene for many years.  Their jazz is audience-friendly and also includes bossa nova and samba.  This is a benefit for Willard Memorial Chapel.  Tickets are $10/person at the door.  Refreshments will be served during intermission. 

Willard Memorial Chapel:  AMATEUR CHEF’S NIGHT at the Springside Inn - Feb. 2, 6pm.  The event is scheduled for Thursday, February 2, 2012 at
Springside Inn at 6 PM. Tickets are $40 each or $350 for tables of 10.  Our local amateur chefs will once again be preparing and serving hors d’oeuvres, soups and desserts. Springside Inn will be preparing the entrees.  Wine tasting will be provided by Dr. Frank’s Vinifera Wine Cellars with music by Louis Nocilly & Jazzitude. Silent Auctions, and Raffles will round out the evening.  Call or stop by Willard Chapel for reservations.

Auburn Public Theater:  Comedian Erin Jackson - Feb. 4, 8pm. ’Hilarious... Very Smart’ —Ellen DeGeneres.  Armed with a megawatt smile, an engaging presence, and a very unique perspective, Erin Jackson is poised to take the world of comedy by stormSince making a name for herself in the comedy clubs of Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD.  Tickets $12.

Auburn Public Theater:  CCC Comedy Night with Ronnie Jordan and Tom Cotter - Feb. 6.  As one of the countries hottest up and coming comedians, Ronnie is quickly making a name for himself as a comic’s comic who has shared concert dates with stand-up heavyweights: Rickey Smiley, Bruce Bruce, Earthquake, Mike Epps, Arnez J. and Dave Chappelle. Tom Cotter’s high energy, rapid-fire style of comedy leaves audiences clutching their sides and rolling in the aisles.  Tickets Regular $12; Student $5 (with I.D.)

Auburn Public Theater:  "180 Degrees South" - Feb. 10, 1 & 8pm, Feb. 11, 8pm.  ’Conquerors of the Useless’ follows Jeff Johnson as he retraces the epic 1968 journey of his heroes Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins to Patagonia. Along the way he gets shipwrecked off Easter Island, surfs the longest wave of his life - and prepares himself for a rare ascent of Cerro Corcovado. Jeff’s life turns when he meets up in a rainy hut with Chouinard and Tompkins who, once driven purely by a love of climbing and surfing, now value above all the experience of raw nature - and have come to Patagonia to spend their fortunes to protect it.  Tickets $5 online, $6 at the door.

Auburn Public Theater:  "Happy" - Feb. 11, 8pm.  "HAPPY" combines cutting-edge science from the new field of “positive psychology” with real-life stories of people from around the world whose lives illustrate these findings.  ’HAPPY’ leads us toward a deeper understanding of how we can all live more fulfilling, healthy and happy lives.  Tickets $5 online, $6 at the door.

Willard Memorial Chapel:  The Life of Harriet Tubman: A Spiritual Journey Through Music - Feb. 12, 3-4pm.  The Syracuse Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America (SGMWA), under the direction of Dr. Joan R. Hillsman, will present a concert of inspired African music and Negro spirituals to
honor and celebrate the life of Harriet Tubman.  Co-sponsored by the Harriet Tubman Boosters Club, this event will feature music composed and directed by Dr. Hillsman, and performed by members of the Syracuse Chapter of the Gospel Music Workshop of America. Their presentation will follow a narrative timeline of Harriet Tubman’s life from slavery in the south to freedom in the north.  Tickets $10.

Auburn Public Theater:  "You Know You Can Dance" - Feb. 18, 8pm.  SPECTATORS:  Be prepared to wear your judge’s face, YOU DECIDE WHICH COUPLE WINS!  The competition kicks off at 8:00 PM, doors will open at 7:00 PM with refreshments available. $5 gets you in to enjoy the show. First 20 Couples to register will compete. $20 entry fee.  Competitor's rehearsal 2/17, 7pm.

Auburn Public Theater:  "Happy Happy" - Feb. 24, 1 & 8pm, Feb. 25, 8pm.  The tangy Norwegian comedy ’Happy, Happy’ is a romantic lark about optimism and infidelity that begins each of its many-chaptered stories with four Norwegian guys outfitted in what look like a series of bad wedding suits and singing gospel tunes.  The gospel singers’ performances are so zesty and the lyrics do sort of set the stage for what will happen next, that you’re kind of happy, happy every time they show up.  Tickets $5 online, $6 at the door.

Auburn Public Theater:  Lucy Kaplansky - Feb. 25, 8pm.  ’New York songwriter Lucy Kaplansky is becoming the troubadour laureate of modern city folk.’ —The Boston Globe.  Lucy harmonized on Colvin’s Grammy-winning Steady On, Nanci Griffith’s Lone Star State of Mind and Little Love Affairs, and four of John Gorka’s albums. She also landed soundtrack credits, singing with Vega on Pretty in Pink and with Griffith on The Firm, and several commercial credits, including ’The Heartbeat of America’ for Chevrolet.  Tickets $20.

Auburn Public Theater:  "Melancholia" - Mar. 2, 1 & 8pm, Mar. 3, 8pm.  In "Melancholia," an excursion from the sad to the sublime by way of the preposterous, the always controversial Danish director Lars von Trier offers his own, highly personal version of apocalypse: a celestial collision rendered in surprisingly lovely digital effects and accompanied by mighty blasts of Wagner. The film takes its title from a rogue planet that appears suddenly in the night sky and seems to be heading straight for Earth.   Tickets $5 online, $6 at the door.

Auburn Public Theater: "The Way" - Mar. 9, 1 & 8pm, Mar. 10, 8pm.  Martin Sheen plays an ophthalmologist named Tom, whose only son, Daniel (Emilio Estevez), dies in severe weather in the Pyrenees while trying to walk the Way of St. James.  Tom goes to retrieve his son’s body and ends up walking the pilgrimage himself, along with 4 fellow travelers.  The beauty of the movie is that Emilio Estevez, writer/director, does not make explicit what any of them find, beyond friendship. He lets these four fine actors convey that true personal transformations are not announced with fanfare, but happen internally.    Tickets $5 online, $6 at the door.

Auburn Public Theater:  The Dean Brothers - Mar. 10, 8pm.  The legendary SAMMY Hall of Fame American Band brings their original and cover music to Auburn Public Theater’s Main Stage. Known for their wonderful classic Rock ’n Roll, as well as their Beach Boys harmonies.  Tickets $16.

Auburn Public Theater:  Comedian Pat Dixon - Mar. 17, 8pm.  Originally from Tennessee, Pat Dixon is a New York City based comedian, writer and yellow journalist.  Dixon has been seen in his own half-hour Comedy Central Special, on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The World Stands Up, Premium Blend and many others.  He can also be seen as a regular correspondent on VH1, and has been seen on E!Television, Fox News and Headline News.  Tickets $12.

Auburn Public Theater:  Pianist George Winston in Concert - Mar. 28, 7:30pm.  Performing in concert on a Steinway piano, George features his most recent songs as well as season- and place-inspired selections from his CDs Autumn, December, Winter into Spring, Summer, Forest, Plains, and Montana – A Love Story, and his albums dedicated to composers including Night Divides the Day – The Music of the Doors.  Concert sponsored by the New York State Council on the Arts, The Citizen, and Inn at the Finger Lakes.  Tickets $35, $31.50/member.

Auburn Public Theater:  Professor Louie and The Crowmatix - Apr. 14, 8pm.  Professor Louie & The Crowmatix is a Woodstock, NY based Americana/Roots musical group led by Aaron Hurwitz, a musician and producer nicknamed ’Professor Louie’. Their music is a blend of Blues, Rock, R&B, Gospel, & Folk with harmonic vocals. The current members all hail from New York State. They have lived, traveled and performed extensively around the globe.  Tickets $10, APT Members $9. 

Auburn Public Theater:  Comedian Andy Pitz - Apr. 28, 8pm.  Andy’s unique brand of comedy has landed him appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
